A real-estate businessman accused of fatally shooting his wife at their residence in Hyderabad was taken into custody on Thursday, according to police reports.
Incident Details
The incident occurred around 4:30 am on June 10 in an area under the Malkajgiri police station limits. The 48-year-old suspect allegedly fired three rounds at the 35-year-old woman, his second wife, leading to her death. Following the shooting, he fled the scene, prompting police to form three teams to track him down.
Arrest and Seizure
A murder case was registered, and the prime accused, identified as D Arun Kumar, was apprehended near the Moula Ali railway station on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Malkajgiri Zone) CH Sridhar stated that during the operation, authorities seized a country-made pistol, live ammunition, knives, and other incriminating evidence linked to the crime.
Background of the Accused
Investigations revealed that the accused was initially married to the deceased's elder sister. After separating from his first wife, he married her sister. The suspect allegedly harbored suspicions about the victim's fidelity and frequently subjected her to physical and mental harassment. On several occasions, she was forced to seek shelter at her relatives' residence in Narsapur, Medak district.
Previous Legal Issues
Police discovered that the accused had a prior case registered at the Amberpet station related to the possession of a firearm, which he had allegedly procured with the intent to kill his wife. He was arrested in that case and remanded to judicial custody. After his release, he brought the deceased back to his residence.

As marital disputes intensified in the days leading up to the incident, the accused allegedly shot the victim with a firearm on June 10, resulting in her death. Further investigation is ongoing.
