IIT Delhi CEP Launches Applied AI, ML and Decision Science Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi's Continuing Education Programme (CEP) has launched the Applied AI, Machine Learning and Decision Science Programme, an 8-month live online initiative designed to equip professionals with the skills to translate AI-generated insights into measurable business outcomes.

Addressing the AI Implementation Gap

While many professionals can build AI models and generate insights, far fewer know how to convert those outputs into structured decisions that drive business value. This gap is becoming critical as organisations shift from AI experimentation to full-scale implementation. Predictive models can forecast demand, identify risks, and recommend actions, but business value is created only when organisations make better decisions based on those insights.

According to the programme description, the ability to evaluate alternatives, optimise outcomes, manage uncertainty, and act on AI-generated insights is rapidly becoming a critical professional capability.

Programme Structure and Curriculum

The programme combines Applied AI and Machine Learning with Decision Science and Optimisation, creating an integrated learning experience. Participants develop expertise across data preparation, machine learning, cognitive AI, Generative AI, and agentic systems, while also learning statistical decision-making, predictive modelling, simulation techniques, optimisation frameworks, and business decision methodologies.

The curriculum includes case studies, quizzes, hands-on exercises, industry-relevant projects, and a comprehensive capstone. Exposure to tools such as Python, Tableau, Solver, and LINGO ensures practical implementation.

Key Details and Target Audience

The programme is delivered through live online sessions by IIT Delhi faculty and includes an optional one-day campus immersion at IIT Delhi in the final month (travel and accommodation costs borne by participants, no additional programme fee). The fee is INR 1,60,000 + GST.

It targets early- and mid-career professionals in data, analytics, technology, engineering, product, consulting, operations, and business functions. Past participants include software engineers, analytics professionals, consultants, product managers, business analysts, and technology leaders.

Why Decision Science Matters

As stated in the programme materials, “AI generates insights. Decision Science enables action.” This integrated approach prepares participants to build AI solutions, interpret outputs, apply optimisation and forecasting frameworks, and translate insights into action. Graduates are equipped to bridge the gap between technology and business performance.

The programme is among the few in India that explicitly combines Applied AI, Machine Learning, and Decision Science within a single learning journey.
