Marc Andreessen Joins US Defense Policy Board
Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen has been appointed to the newly constituted US Defense Policy Board, according to an announcement by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The board provides independent strategic advice to senior Department of War leadership.

Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, who served as US Trade Representative from 2017 to 2021, will chair the board. Former Senator Norm Coleman will serve as Vice Chair. Marc Andreessen is a prominent American entrepreneur, software developer, and venture capitalist. He co-created Mosaic, one of the first widely used web browsers, in the early 1990s. He is also co-founder and general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, a leading venture capital firm. His appointment is notable as he comes from the technology and venture capital world rather than traditional military or diplomatic circles.

The Defense Policy Board was originally established in 1985.
