The much-awaited Vande Bharat train connecting Srinagar and Jammu is set to commence operations in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the region's rail connectivity. Indian Railways has announced the train number, timings, route, and other essential details for passengers.

Train Number and Route

The Vande Bharat Express will operate with train number 22439/22440. The route will cover major stations including Srinagar, Anantnag, Qazigund, Banihal, and Jammu Tawi. The train will traverse the newly constructed Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which includes the iconic Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge.

Timings and Frequency

The train will run six days a week, excluding Sundays. It will depart from Srinagar at 6:00 AM and reach Jammu at 11:30 AM, covering a distance of approximately 290 kilometers in 5 hours and 30 minutes. In the return direction, the train will leave Jammu at 3:00 PM and arrive in Srinagar at 8:30 PM.
