A tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru on Monday afternoon when an under-construction compound wall of an apartment collapsed, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old worker and injuries to another. The deceased has been identified as Bheemesh, while the injured is Doolayya, 32, both hailing from Raichur district.

Details of the Incident

According to preliminary investigations by the police, construction work was underway at an already completed apartment building located on 5th Cross in Chikka Banaswadi. Around 2 pm, the compound wall, which was constructed with hollow bricks, suddenly collapsed. The debris fell on Bheemesh and Doolayya, causing severe injuries. Bheemesh succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Doolayya was rescued by bystanders and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Legal Action Taken

The Banaswadi police have registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to causing death by negligence. A notice has been served to the apartment owner, identified as Prakash Babu, in connection with the incident. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the wall collapse and whether any safety norms were violated at the construction site.
