UP Govt Announces 2% DA Hike: Check Details

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced a 2% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, with the revised DA set to be effective from January 1, 2026. This move is expected to benefit over 15 lakh state employees and pensioners.

Key Details of the DA Hike

According to an official statement, the dearness allowance has been increased from the current 50% to 52% of the basic pay. The hike will be applicable to all state government employees, including those working in autonomous bodies and local bodies. The additional financial burden on the state exchequer is estimated to be around Rs 5,000 crore annually.

Impact on Employees and Pensioners

With this increase, the total DA for state employees now stands at 52%. Pensioners will also receive a corresponding increase in dearness relief (DR). The government has assured that the arrears from January 1, 2026, will be paid along with the salary of the following month. This decision aligns with the central government's DA revision pattern.
