In a move that will impact household budgets, the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by Rs 29 per cylinder, effective from June 7, 2026. The revised price for a standard 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 1,032, up from the previous Rs 1,003.
Revised LPG Prices Across Major Cities
The price hike is uniform across the country, though final rates vary due to local taxes and transportation costs. Here are the new prices for a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in key metropolitan cities:
- Delhi: Rs 1,032 (increase of Rs 29)
- Mumbai: Rs 1,042 (increase of Rs 29)
- Kolkata: Rs 1,034 (increase of Rs 29)
- Chennai: Rs 1,038 (increase of Rs 29)
Reason Behind the Price Revision
The hike is attributed to the increase in international crude oil prices and the subsequent rise in LPG import costs. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) revise LPG prices on a monthly basis based on the average international benchmark rates and foreign exchange fluctuations. This adjustment aligns domestic prices with global market trends.
Impact on Consumers
The Rs 29 increase adds to the financial burden on households already grappling with rising inflation. For a family using one cylinder per month, the annual extra cost will be around Rs 348. However, the government continues to provide a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme to eligible beneficiaries, which partially offsets the hike.
In addition to domestic cylinders, commercial LPG prices have also been revised. A 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,154 in Delhi, up by Rs 44 from the previous month.
Previous Price Trends
This is the first price hike in the past three months. In March and April 2026, LPG prices remained stable. The last increase was in February 2026, when prices were raised by Rs 15 per cylinder. The current hike is the steepest in recent months.
Consumers are advised to check the official website of their respective oil company for the exact local prices. Booking through the mobile app or online portal remains the most convenient way to order cylinders at the revised rates.
