Despite a government order directing all departments to prioritize approvals for PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections, the Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAGPL) has been facing significant delays in obtaining necessary permissions. Vinod Papal, the Dharwad asset head of IOAGPL, highlighted these challenges during a recent interaction.
Delays in Approvals
According to Papal, the company requires approvals from various departments for land digging, road cutting, and other essential activities to provide new PNG connections. However, the process has been slow, leading to extended waiting periods for consumers. We have been facing significant delays in getting permission for land digging, road cutting, and other required approvals from various departments, Papal stated. Hence it takes time to give new connections.
Government Order and Reality
While the government has issued a directive to prioritize PNG connection approvals, the ground reality differs. The delays persist, affecting the rollout of PNG services in the region. Papal emphasized that the company is committed to resolving these issues.
Talks with District Administration
To address the bottlenecks, IOAGPL plans to initiate discussions with the district administration. In this regard, talks will be initiated with the district administration to expedite the process, Papal confirmed. The company hopes that collaborative efforts will streamline the approval mechanism and reduce the time taken for new connections.
The development underscores the gap between policy directives and implementation at the local level. Residents awaiting PNG connections will benefit from faster approvals once the issues are resolved.
