The Telangana government has extended the operating hours of sub-registrar offices (SROs) from May 29 to June 3, responding to a significant surge in property registrations across the state. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that SROs will remain open from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm during this period to accommodate the heavy rush.
Reason for Increased Registrations
The spike in registrations is attributed to the state government's plan to revise market values of land for property registrations soon. Many citizens are rushing to complete registrations before the new values take effect, aiming to benefit from the current rates.
Minister's Directives for Public Convenience
Minister Srinivas Reddy instructed officials to ensure that people visiting SROs do not have to wait for extended periods. He emphasized the need for proper arrangements to avoid any inconvenience. “The government’s aim is to serve the public... Speed, transparency, and convenience are the three main goals in the registration process,” the minister stated.
To manage the demand, the minister directed officials to increase the number of slot bookings. He also indicated that the government is prepared to extend working hours and days further if necessary, depending on the ongoing registration demand.
Coordination with Tehsildar Offices
The minister stressed the importance of coordination with tehsildar offices, where agricultural land registrations take place. He called for seamless service delivery without delays. Special instructions were issued to Registrations Department Inspector General Rajeev Gandhi Hanumantu to ensure fast, transparent, and convenient services for the public.
This move is part of the government's broader effort to streamline the registration process and reduce bottlenecks, ensuring that citizens can complete their property transactions smoothly.
