According to Sheikh Sami Ur Rahman, the senior divisional commercial manager (Sr DCM), the project originated from a detailed survey conducted at Ballia station. Passengers explicitly expressed a desire for a multi-branded apparel outlet on-site, highlighting a gap in available amenities. In response, railway authorities identified an underutilized section of an old waiting hall, which was repurposed for this new venture without requiring any additional development costs.

Efficient Implementation Through Public-Private Partnership

To ensure transparency and operational efficiency, the railways conducted an e-auction in January, securing a license fee of Rs 4.40 lakh per annum. This process not only generated revenue but also fostered a collaborative public-private partnership model. The licensee demonstrated remarkable efficiency by completing the store's construction in just 52 days, underscoring a commitment to swift execution and enhanced passenger services.
