Bemul Posts Record Rs 12.5 Crore Profit and Rs 510 Crore Turnover in 2025-26 Financial Year

The Belagavi District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, commonly known as Bemul, has achieved a historic milestone by recording a profit of Rs 12.5 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This impressive performance is accompanied by a total turnover of Rs 510 crore, underscoring significant growth and stability in the region's dairy sector.

Expansion and Growth Initiatives

Chairman and MLA Balachandra Jarakiholi, addressing reporters in Belagavi, highlighted that the Union's focus on expansion during the year led to the formation of 100 new milk producers' cooperative societies. This strategic move has increased the total number of functional societies to 685, enhancing the cooperative's reach and operational capacity.

Jarakiholi also noted that the State government disbursed Rs 32 crore in incentives to milk producers, with an additional Rs 7.50 crore still pending. He urged the government to release the balance amount promptly to support the farmers further.

Diversification and Market Presence

In a bid to strengthen its product base, Bemul has diversified into value-added products, recording notable growth in the production of items such as ghee, paneer, and peda. To widen its market footprint, the Union established 55 franchises across Belagavi, Goa, and Pune, expanding its consumer base and boosting sales.

Milk procurement has shown steady growth, with an average daily collection of 2.5 lakh kg and an annual procurement of 8.2 crore kg, predominantly consisting of cow milk. In a significant initiative, Bemul is supplying 25,000 litres of milk daily to schoolchildren under Andhra Pradesh's 'Akshara Dasoha' scheme, contributing to child nutrition and welfare.

Future Plans and Farmer Welfare

Looking ahead, Jarakiholi revealed plans to establish a mega dairy in Belagavi, inspired by the positive response to a similar project in Raibag. Emphasising farmer welfare, he encouraged North Karnataka farmers to adopt dairy farming as a sustainable supplementary income source, alongside traditional crops like sugarcane. This move aims to enhance rural livelihoods and promote agricultural diversification.

The Union's achievements reflect a robust growth trajectory, driven by strategic expansion, product diversification, and a commitment to farmer support, positioning Bemul as a key player in India's dairy industry.
