Bihar Government to Revitalize 100 Acres of Industrial Land for New Investors
The Bihar state government has announced a significant initiative to make approximately 100 acres of industrial land available to new investors by restoring it as reinvestable assets. This move was confirmed by Industries Secretary Kundan Kumar following a review meeting held on Saturday in Patna.
Progress Under CM Nitish Kumar's Leadership
Kundan Kumar highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has achieved notable progress. This has been accomplished through the implementation of the Amnesty Policy 2025 and Exit Policy 2025, which are designed to revive closed and disputed industrial units and bring inactive land back into productive use.
He reported that around 100 industrial units or cases have been successfully resolved through these policies. This resolution is expected to strengthen asset management and improve the flow of investment into the state.
Potential Investment and Economic Impact
Kundan Kumar emphasized that these measures have paved the way for a potential investment ranging from Rs 600 to 800 crore. This substantial financial influx is anticipated to accelerate industrialization and significantly boost employment generation across Bihar.
"The Amnesty Policy provides a clear and time-bound opportunity to entrepreneurs whose industrial plots became inactive due to outstanding dues or compliance-related issues," he explained. "Through a simple, transparent, and systematic process, they can revive closed units, protect existing investments, and restore employment opportunities."
He added that, except for cases already allotted to third parties, all eligible units can avail this one-time opportunity until March 31.
Exit Policy for Dispute Resolution
Kundan Kumar also detailed the Exit Policy, which offers entrepreneurs a dignified exit route and resolves pending disputes. This policy effectively makes inactive land available again for fresh investment, further enhancing the state's industrial landscape.
Stakeholder Involvement and Meeting Attendance
The review meeting saw participation from key industry stakeholders, including:
- Subhash Kumar Patwari from the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)
- Sanjay Goenka and Amarnath Jaiswal from the Bihar Industries Association (BIA)
Senior officials from the industries department and BIADA were also present, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this initiative.
This strategic move by the Bihar government aims to transform underutilized industrial assets into thriving hubs of economic activity, fostering growth and job creation in the region.
