Industry Leaders Push for Sustainable Development in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Ahead of Civic Polls
Industry leaders in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have taken a proactive step ahead of the upcoming civic body polls. They submitted a detailed charter of demands to various political parties. The charter emphasizes the need for long-term, sustainable, and inclusive development in the city.
Unified Advocacy for Citizen Expectations
Two advocacy groups, CSN First and Team of Associations, united industry captains to release this public charter. It outlines citizens' expectations clearly. The leaders want political parties to focus on planned growth that benefits everyone.
Key Demands for Infrastructure and Governance
The charter lists several critical demands. First, it calls for the timely and quality execution of the city's water supply project. Good governance with a citizen-centric administration is another priority. Industry leaders insist on implementing the development plan strictly as per its original objectives without any changes.
Road and transport infrastructure receive special attention. The charter demands independent, long-term priority for these areas. It proposes developing major arterial roads connecting the city in directions like Harsul, Daulatabad, Paithan Road, Waluj, and Chikalthana. These roads should have a minimum width of 60 metres.
Vision for Future Transport Systems
Planning a multi-modal mass rapid transport system is a key recommendation. The charter also urges preparing a scientifically sound proposal for a metro project. This proposal should have a 25-year vision to meet future needs.
Industry Leaders Emphasize Urgent Action
Mukund Kulkarni, one of the industry leaders, explained the rationale behind these demands. He said, "Considering the city's rapidly growing population and accelerating industrial expansion, we must move beyond short-term measures. Major infrastructure initiatives like DMIC and evolving urban needs require a sustainable development blueprint with a vision spanning several decades."
Another industry captain, Mansing Pawar, highlighted the need for political unity. He stated that political parties should rise above partisan politics. They must work collectively for the city's development through regular interactions.
Protection of Heritage Sites
Among other demands, industry leaders focused on protecting Himayat Bagh. Recognized as a historic and green asset of the city, they demand that no proposed road, as mentioned in the Development Plan, should be built there. This step aims to protect the biodiversity heritage site for future generations.
The charter represents a strong call for action from the business community. It underscores the importance of sustainable and inclusive growth in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as the city prepares for civic elections.
