DDA Identifies 5 Sites for Multi-Level Parking with 1,261 Vehicle Capacity
DDA Plans Multi-Level Parking at 5 Delhi Sites

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has identified five locations across the city to develop multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities, aiming to address congestion and parking shortages. These projects will collectively accommodate 1,261 vehicles.

Proposed MLCP Locations and Capacities

The proposed MLCPs will be established at Karkardooma, Okhla Industrial Area Phase-I, Dilshad Garden, Dwarka, and Saini Enclave. The DDA has announced an e-auction for these projects on Friday to expedite execution. Officials stated, "We have identified key areas where footfall is high and additional parking space is desperately required. The projects are designed to ease on-street parking pressure and enhance traffic flow in densely populated zones."

Parking Capacity Distribution

  • Karkardooma: 248 spaces
  • Okhla Industrial Area Phase-I: 362 spaces
  • Dilshad Garden: 232 spaces
  • Dwarka: 134 spaces
  • Saini Enclave: 285 spaces

The total project area spans 11,048.9 square metres, and all five projects are expected to be completed within three years from the date of award.

Commercial Component for Financial Viability

To ensure financial viability and create vibrant urban spaces, a portion of each development area has been earmarked for commercial use. Officials noted, "The commercial component will allow general commercial activities in accordance with the provisions of MPD-21. A differentiated pricing structure has been adopted for parking and commercial components for prospective bidders."

Integration with Ongoing Developments

The Karkardooma MLCP will complement DDA's ongoing high-rise development in the area, supporting its transformation into a modern, high-density urban hub with integrated infrastructure. Similarly, the Dwarka MLCP aligns with DDA's continued efforts to strengthen Dwarka as a well-planned sub-city with robust civic and transport infrastructure.

Recent MLCP Developments

In February this year, a state-of-the-art multi-level parking facility was inaugurated at Nehru Place District Centre. This MLCP is a six-level structure comprising a basement and five upper floors, providing organised parking for 660 cars, including designated spaces for persons with disabilities and electric vehicles, as well as parking for over 350 two-wheelers. Additionally, an MLCP will soon be inaugurated in Bhikaji Cama Place, another busy commercial hub in the city, according to officials.
