A 54-year-old supervisor employed with an outsourcing company was allegedly run over by a tipper truck on the premises at Gopalichak in Dhanbad district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Ramswaroop Chauhan, a resident of Godhar.
Chauhan had been working as a supervisor (shift in-charge) at the firm for the past four years. Following the accident, he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, from where he was referred to the Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) in Dhanbad. However, he was declared brought dead upon arrival.
Adarsh Kumar, the son of the deceased, stated that his father had left for duty in the morning. Shortly thereafter, the family received the distressing news of the accident.
A family member, Guddu Chauhan, said, “The truck ran over Chauhan’s waist, causing fatal injuries.”
Company representative Shriram Pandey mentioned that details of the accident are being collected and a statement can only be made after a proper inquiry.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at the workplace. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
