Elite & Loop JV Selects Toyo for India PET Recycling Plant Engineering
Elite-Loop JV Awards Engineering Contract to Toyo India

In a significant move for India's sustainable plastics sector, the joint venture between Elite Ester Industries Limited and Canada's Loop Industries has taken a crucial step forward. The partnership has officially awarded the detailed engineering contract for its planned advanced recycling facility to Toyo Engineering India Limited.

A Strategic Partnership for Circular Economy

The joint venture, named Infinite Loop India Private Limited, was formed to establish a manufacturing plant dedicated to producing 100% sustainable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin and polyester fiber. This facility will utilize Loop's proprietary depolymerization technology to break down waste plastic into its base monomers, which are then repolymerized into virgin-quality PET plastic, fit for food-grade packaging.

The selection of Toyo Engineering India, a subsidiary of the renowned Japanese engineering giant Toyo Engineering Corporation, marks a pivotal phase. Toyo India will be responsible for the comprehensive detailed engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services for the entire project.

Project Scale and Market Impact

The planned Infinite Loop India facility is designed with an ambitious annual production capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes. This output will address the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions from major global brands committed to incorporating recycled content. The project represents a direct investment in India's circular economy infrastructure, aiming to divert substantial plastic waste from landfills and oceans.

Elite Ester Industries, a key player in the Indian polyester and polymer segment, brings deep domestic market knowledge and operational expertise to the table. Loop Industries contributes its patented low-temperature, low-pressure depolymerization process, which is capable of processing a wide range of PET plastic waste, including difficult-to-recycle materials like colored bottles and packaging.

Timelines and Future Roadmap

With the detailed engineering contract now awarded, the project moves from the planning stage into active execution. The engineering work by Toyo will lay the groundwork for subsequent procurement and construction activities. This development follows the initial collaboration agreement announced earlier, solidifying the commitment of all parties to bring this cutting-edge recycling technology to the Indian market.

The establishment of this plant is expected to create numerous jobs, foster local expertise in advanced recycling, and position India as a hub for innovative sustainable technology. It directly supports national initiatives like the Plastic Waste Management Rules and corporate sustainability goals, offering a scalable solution to the plastic pollution challenge.

This contract award signals that the Infinite Loop India project is on a concrete path to realization, promising to transform the landscape of plastic recycling in the region and supply global brands with high-quality, endlessly recyclable PET plastic originating from waste.
