FDA seals Bhiwandi cosmetics factory for misleading labels

Mumbai: On Tuesday, the FDA announced it had sealed a cosmetic manufacturing facility in Bhiwandi for allegedly deceiving consumers on e-commerce platforms by labeling its products as sulfate-free and paraben-free. The seized stock from the unit included finished products, machinery, and raw materials.

Allegations against CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd

The regulator further alleged that CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd, which sold hair care products, shampoos, hair serums, baby lotions, baby powder, sunscreens, hair oils, face washes, dandruff control shampoos, and perfumes for men and children, had printed a fake Andheri address on finished goods. Additionally, no quality tests had been conducted.

FDA officials added that the company possessed no manufacturing license, and the products lacked batch numbers or any legally required information. They have filed a complaint with the Narpoli police station under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the BNS.
