The Gaya district administration took a significant step on Monday to boost industrial development. They held the inaugural meeting of a newly formed single window cell. This initiative aims to create a more business-friendly environment in the district.
Monthly Forum for Faster Industrial Expansion
District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar chaired the meeting at the collectorate conference hall. The session marked the start of a dedicated monthly forum. Its primary goal is to resolve inter-departmental bottlenecks that slow down industrial growth.
The single window cell functions as a district-level platform. Entrepreneurs can now offer suggestions and lodge complaints directly. Heads of all relevant departments attend these meetings. This includes officials from pollution control, fire services, electricity, and revenue departments. Their presence ensures immediate attention to issues under the DM's direct supervision.
Weavers Demand Land Allocation Priority
Representatives from the Central Bihar Chamber of Commerce and the weavers' committee of Manpur Patwa Toli attended the first meeting. Patwa Toli is a well-known textile hub in the region.
Prem Narayan Patwa spoke on behalf of the weavers. He stated that around 1,000 weaving units currently operate at Patwa Toli. These units provide employment to nearly 30,000 workers.
More than 450 weavers have expressed a strong desire to establish their own industrial units. They need land for expansion. A 23-acre plot has been marked for this purpose. Patwa emphasized that weavers should receive priority in land allocation.
He also proposed developing a workers' training centre. The suggested location is vacant land belonging to the cooperative department at Gopalpur near Patwa Toli. This centre would generate additional employment opportunities for local residents.
Infrastructure Improvements Highlighted
Anup Kumar Kedia, president of the Magadh Industries Association, and Kaushlendra Pratap, patron of the CBCC, raised critical infrastructure issues. They focused on the emerging industrial cluster at Dhanawan-Dubhal along the Gaya-Dobhi road.
Entrepreneurs in this area need better roads, reliable power supply, and other essential facilities. The cluster operates on private land, making infrastructure development crucial for its success.
The CBCC announced plans to organize an 'Udyog Samvad' on January 21. This event will facilitate discussions with entrepreneurs to identify and address growth challenges.
DM Directs Comprehensive Planning
District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar issued several important directives during the meeting. He instructed the district industry officer to prepare a detailed blueprint. This plan must cover both existing and proposed industrial areas in Gaya.
The DM also called for a comprehensive map categorizing different types of industries across various locations. This mapping exercise will help identify potential industrial clusters and highlight gaps in the supply chain.
Additionally, he tasked Additional Collector (Revenue) Paritosh Kumar with exploring expansion possibilities for Patwa Toli. The focus is on 46 acres of government land at Manpur that could support the weavers' growth ambitions.
The establishment of the single window cell represents a proactive move by the Gaya administration. It demonstrates a clear commitment to removing bureaucratic hurdles and fostering sustainable industrial development in the district.
