Greater Noida Residents Demand Full Water Pipeline Replacement After 10 Leaks in a Month
Greater Noida Residents Demand Full Pipeline Replacement

Residents of Sector 3 in Greater Noida West have demanded a complete replacement of the area's drinking water pipeline after it developed 10 leakages in a month, leading to flooded roads, disrupted household supply, and road cave-ins. The aging pipeline has repeatedly sprung leaks at various points along its length.

Supply Disruption and Road Cave-In

On Monday, widespread leakages disrupted water supply across the sector. By Tuesday, water pressure had dropped so significantly that many households received little or no water. Earlier this week, a pipeline burst around 8 am, flooding a section of road in D-Block and causing the surface to cave in, affecting traffic in the area.

Residents Demand Permanent Solution

Residents argue that repeated patch repairs have failed to hold. “The entire pipeline needs to be replaced. Simply fixing patches daily won’t help. It will just burst again,” said Ashish Kumar. Deo Raj Tiwari, another resident, highlighted low water pressure as an additional concern. Sushil Kumar Jain called for simultaneous road reconstruction. Despite repeated complaints to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), residents claim no lasting solution has been provided.

Authority Promises Replacement

GNIDA technical supervisor Sandeep Sagar stated that a replacement is imminent. “I spoke to the senior officer, and the pipeline will be replaced this week. A ductile iron line will be installed,” he said. Normal water supply and road repairs were still awaited as of late Tuesday.
