Hyundai Enters Fleet Market: Launches Prime HB & SD Models from ₹5.99 Lakh
Hyundai Launches Prime HB & SD for Fleet Segment

In a strategic move to capture a share of India's growing commercial mobility sector, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has officially entered the fleet segment. The automaker, which holds the position of the country's second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer by sales volume, has unveiled two purpose-built models: the Prime HB (hatchback) and the Prime SD (sedan).

Pricing, Bookings, and Target Audience

The new Hyundai Prime range is positioned aggressively in the market. The Prime HB starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD begins at ₹6.89 lakh. The company has announced that bookings for both vehicles are now open across its nationwide dealership network for a token amount of ₹5,000. These models are specifically engineered for fleet operators, taxi aggregators, and entrepreneurs looking for reliable and cost-effective commercial vehicles.

Engine, Features, and Cost of Ownership

Powering both the Prime HB and Prime SD is a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine, which is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option—a critical feature for fleet economics. A key safety and regulatory feature is the company-installed speed-limiting function. Hyundai is emphasizing low total cost of ownership (TCO), claiming it can be as low as around 47 paise per kilometer.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the company states the Prime SD can deliver up to 28.40 km per kg of CNG, while the Prime HB offers 27.32 km/kg. To ensure high vehicle uptime and predictable costs, HMIL is backing the launch with a specially designed extended warranty covering the fourth and fifth year or up to 1.8 lakh kilometers. Flexible finance options of up to 72 months are also being offered.

Safety, Comfort, and Optional Tech

Standard safety is a strong suit, with both models equipped with six airbags as standard. Other essential features include rear parking sensors, a rear defogger, central locking, power windows, rear AC vents, steering-mounted controls, and a front Type-C fast USB charger.

For operators wanting more, Hyundai offers a suite of optional accessories. These include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, and a vehicle location tracking device integrated with panic buttons. The cars will be available in three colour choices: Atlas White, Typhoon Silver, and Abyss Black.

Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO designate of Hyundai Motor India Limited, stated that the Prime range was developed to deliver high uptime, predictable maintenance, and low operating costs, all supported by Hyundai's extensive sales and service network across India. This launch marks Hyundai's formal foray into the organized commercial mobility space, aiming to provide a dependable and feature-rich alternative to existing fleet vehicles.
