Jharkhand Farmers Gain Modern Farming Insights at ISARC Varanasi Visit

Thirteen farmers from Jharkhand's Chatra district visited the International Rice Research Institute – South Asia Regional Centre in Varanasi on Thursday. They learned about modern agricultural practices during this exposure visit. The event aimed to empower farmers with knowledge on resource-efficient technologies and climate-resilient farming solutions.

Strengthening Farmer Capacity Building

N K Singh, head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Varanasi, coordinated the visit. This collaboration is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen farmer capacity building. It focuses on knowledge exchange for rice-based cropping systems across different states. ISARC scientists emphasized the importance of such cross-regional learning opportunities.

"These exposure visits empower farmers to adopt innovations," said ISARC scientists. "They help sustainably enhance productivity and resilience. We value collaborations with KVKs and farmer groups from across India."

Hands-On Exploration of Research Facilities

The farmers explored ISARC's research and demonstration facilities during their visit. They saw the Mechanisation Hub and Regenerative Agriculture demonstration plots. These engagements provided first-hand insights into ongoing research and technological innovations.

Farmers gained practical knowledge about sustainable farming practices. They observed how modern techniques can improve agricultural outcomes. The visit offered a direct look at cutting-edge tools and methods.

Enthusiasm for Applying New Technologies

The visiting farmers expressed enthusiasm about applying these technologies back home in Jharkhand. They appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with leading agricultural researchers. This interaction allowed them to ask questions and discuss challenges specific to their region.

Farmers left with a better understanding of how to implement climate-resilient solutions. They learned ways to make their farming more resource-efficient. The visit marked a significant step toward promoting sustainable agriculture in their communities.

This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to bridge knowledge gaps between research institutions and farmers. It supports the adoption of innovative farming techniques across India. Such programs aim to enhance agricultural productivity and resilience in the face of climate challenges.
