Kia Seltos Gets New HTK (EX) Variant with Enhanced Features

Kia India has officially launched a new variant for its popular Seltos sub-compact SUV. The company introduced the HTK (EX) trim today, aiming to provide customers with a richer set of features while maintaining competitive pricing. This move expands the Seltos portfolio to a total of seven variants, giving buyers more choices in the competitive compact SUV segment.

Pricing and Booking Details

The new HTK (EX) variant comes with two engine options at different price points. Kia India has set the ex-showroom price at Rs 9.90 lakh for the turbo petrol version. The diesel engine option carries a price tag of Rs 10.64 lakh. Interested customers can now book the Seltos in this new trim through multiple channels. They have the option to visit their nearest Kia dealership or complete the booking process online for added convenience.

Feature-Rich Offering

Kia based the new HTK (EX) variant on the existing HTK(O) trim but added several significant upgrades. The vehicle now comes equipped with full LED lighting, including daytime running lights, headlamps, and taillamps. It rides on stylish 16-inch alloy wheels that enhance its road presence.

Interior and Comfort Features

Inside the cabin, Kia has focused on enhancing comfort and technology. The HTK (EX) variant features an electric sunroof that adds to the airy feel of the interior. A large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage on the dashboard. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless smartphone integration.

The audio system includes four speakers complemented by two tweeters for improved sound quality. Drivers will appreciate the steering-mounted controls that keep essential functions within easy reach. A 4.2-inch MID (Multi-Information Display) provides important vehicle data at a glance.

Practical features include electrically adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors. The driver's seat offers height adjustment for better driving position. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated AC vents and sun shade curtains on the rear doors. A rear parking camera with sensors assists during reversing maneuvers.

Safety First Approach

Kia has equipped the new variant with comprehensive safety features. The Seltos HTK (EX) comes with six airbags for occupant protection. It includes ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) for better handling. Additional safety technologies include hill start assist, VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution).

Powertrain Options

The Seltos HTK (EX) variant offers customers two engine choices. The first option is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This powerplant delivers 120 horsepower and 172 Newton-meters of torque. Buyers can pair this engine with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission).

The second option is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This diesel unit produces 115 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Design Philosophy

Kia has given the Seltos a completely new design that follows the company's global design language. The design team drew inspiration from several Kia models, including the Carnival, EV3, and EV9. The result is a boxy and upright silhouette that stands out in the crowded SUV market.

The front fascia features vertically stacked LED headlamps positioned at the bumper edges. These headlamps house three LED projector units each. A unique drop-down LED daytime running light design adds distinctive character, similar to what we see in the new Carnival.

The upper section of the front end presents a sealed appearance that resembles electric vehicles. Air intakes integrate neatly into the blacked-out lower portion. A contrasting silver trim accents this area, adding visual interest to the overall design.

Kia India's launch of the HTK (EX) variant demonstrates their commitment to expanding choices for Indian SUV buyers. By offering more features at competitive prices, they aim to strengthen the Seltos' position in one of India's most competitive automotive segments.
