Mahindra XEV 9S: 7-Seater Electric SUV Debuts in Bengaluru Nov 27
Mahindra XEV 9S 7-Seater Electric SUV Launching Soon

Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to make a significant splash in the electric vehicle segment with the upcoming unveiling of the Mahindra XEV 9S. This model is poised to be the brand's flagship electric offering for 2025, generating considerable excitement as a practical, three-row, seven-seater SUV.

A New Chapter in the Born Electric Saga

Following the attention-grabbing reveals of the BE 6 and the XEV 9e, the XEV 9S is the latest addition to Mahindra's ambitious 'Born Electric' portfolio. The company has officially announced that the SUV will be unveiled to the public at the highly anticipated 'Scream Electric' event, scheduled for November 27 in Bengaluru. This launch is expected to significantly bolster Mahindra's electric lineup and inject fresh energy into the Indian EV market.

Like its coupe-style siblings, the XEV 9S will be constructed on the brand's dedicated INGLO skateboard architecture. This modular EV platform is key to the vehicle's design, featuring a flat floor that houses the battery pack and places the wheels at the corners. This innovative layout is engineered to maximize interior cabin space, offering a more comfortable experience for all occupants.

Designed for Space and Performance

Mahindra is marketing the XEV 9S as the ideal vehicle for those who live large and travel with family and friends, without wanting to sacrifice performance or road presence. The INGLO platform's benefits include sliding second-row seats, a low centre of gravity for enhanced stability, and improved structural rigidity. These features collectively promise a smooth, stable, and remarkably spacious drive.

Externally, the XEV 9S is expected to carry the signature design language of the Born Electric series. Teasers released by Mahindra suggest a bold and muscular SUV with a closed front panel instead of a conventional grille, connected LED lighting elements, and commanding proportions. Inside, drivers and passengers can anticipate a modern cabin equipped with a multi-screen dashboard, advanced connected car technology, and a large panoramic sunroof, mirroring the sophisticated interiors seen in the XEV 9e and BE 6 concepts.

Powertrain and Expected Range

Under the hood, or more accurately, within the platform, the Mahindra XEV 9S is anticipated to offer multiple battery pack options to cater to different customer needs. A key selling point will be its driving range, which is projected to be more than 500 kilometres on a single charge, addressing a primary concern for potential EV buyers. For those seeking superior performance and all-weather capability, higher-end variants will likely feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. The SUV will also be equipped with fast-charging technology, making long journeys more practical.

The debut of the Mahindra XEV 9S marks a pivotal moment for the homegrown automaker, as it directly enters the burgeoning market for large, family-friendly electric SUVs in India. Its success could redefine consumer expectations and accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the country.
