Mahindra XUV 3XO EV launched, price starts at ₹13.89 lakh

In a significant move to strengthen its position in the green mobility space, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd officially unveiled the all-electric version of its popular XUV 3XO on Tuesday, 6 January. The launch of the XUV 3XO EV underscores the automaker's aggressive strategy to capture a larger share of India's rapidly expanding electric vehicle market by offering a practical and accessible option.

Competitive Pricing and Variants

The company has announced an aggressive starting price for its new electric SUV. The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV begins at ₹13.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level AX5 variant. For customers seeking more features, the higher-specification AX7L model is priced at ₹14.96 lakh. This pricing strategy places the vehicle squarely in the competitive mainstream electric SUV segment, aiming to attract a wide range of buyers.

This launch builds upon the strong legacy of the XUV 3XO, which was introduced in April 2024. Mahindra claims the petrol model redefined its segment with leading features and has achieved impressive sales of nearly 1.8 lakh units since its debut. The EV variant is designed to leverage this success by catering specifically to urban customers whose primary use is intra-city commuting.

Feature-Rich Package for Urban Mobility

The XUV 3XO EV is packed with amenities aimed at ensuring comfort, convenience, and safety. The cabin offers a spacious design and comes equipped with dual-zone air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, and a six-way adjustable driver's seat. For entertainment and connectivity, it boasts a premium infotainment system complemented by high-quality audio.

On the technology front, the vehicle is not lacking. It offers connected car features and a very practical 360-degree camera system to aid in parking and navigating tight spaces. Safety is addressed with multiple airbags and advanced braking enhancements. A unique highlight is the inclusion of multiple drive modes – Fun, Fast, and Fearless – allowing drivers to tailor the vehicle's performance character to their preference.

Strategic Focus on Everyday Electric Driving

Speaking at the launch event, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra's Automotive Division, emphasized the model's customer-centric design. He stated that the XUV 3XO successfully combined aspiration with accessibility, and the EV version aims to extend that philosophy into electric mobility. "The XUV 3XO EV has been engineered around real usage patterns," Gollagunta said, highlighting its focus on reliable everyday mobility.

He further added that the vehicle blends instant electric performance with a package tuned for confident and easy city driving. This launch comes at a pivotal time for the Indian EV industry. With battery costs declining, increased localization, and a flurry of new model launches, market penetration of electric vehicles is poised for accelerated growth, making them a more viable option for a broader consumer base than ever before.
