Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported its highest-ever annual production, crossing 23.4 lakh units in FY 2025-26, marking a record for passenger vehicle manufacturing in India. The company said it is the only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the country to achieve this level of production in a single financial year. It also became the highest-producing facility within Suzuki Motor Corporation's global manufacturing network.
Key Models Driving Production
Five models led production during the year, each crossing the 2 lakh unit mark: the Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga, and Baleno. These popular vehicles contributed significantly to the record-breaking output.
Management Commentary
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, commented on the milestone, stating that the achievement reflects the scale of operations built over decades, supported by collaboration across employees, suppliers, and dealers. He added that policy measures such as GST 2.0 contributed to strengthening market demand.
Future Expansion Plans
The company also highlighted its parent firm's continued focus on India as a growth market and export hub, which is driving capacity expansion plans. Maruti Suzuki aims to increase its annual production capacity to around 40 lakh units. At present, the company operates four manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda (Haryana), and Hansalpur (Gujarat), with a combined installed capacity of 24 lakh units annually.
As part of its expansion strategy, Maruti Suzuki identified land in March 2026 for a fifth manufacturing plant at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. Once operational, the new facility is expected to add an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units.
Product Portfolio
Maruti Suzuki currently produces 17 models across more than 650 variants, catering to both domestic and export markets. The company continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the Indian automotive industry.
