Maruti Suzuki Invests Rs 4,960 Crore in New Gujarat Plant

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a major investment plan for Gujarat. The company will spend Rs 4,960 crore to establish its second passenger vehicle manufacturing facility in the state.

Board Approves Land Acquisition Near Ahmedabad

The board of Maruti Suzuki has given its approval for acquiring land at the Khoraj Industrial Estate. This location is situated close to Ahmedabad. The move signals a significant expansion of the automaker's production footprint in Gujarat.

Boosting Annual Production Capacity

The new factory is expected to add a substantial 10 lakh vehicles per year to Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing capabilities in Gujarat. This development comes as the company continues to strengthen its operations in the region.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki operates a plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat. This existing facility has an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units. The company is not stopping there.

Expansion Plans at Hansalpur

Maruti Suzuki has additional plans for its Hansalpur plant. A fourth production line is scheduled to be added there starting from the financial year 2027. This expansion will significantly increase output at the Hansalpur site alone.

Once the fourth line becomes operational, the total production capacity at Hansalpur is projected to reach 10 lakh units annually. This represents a notable boost from the current levels.

Doubling Overall Capacity in Gujarat

The establishment of the second plant at Khoraj will further amplify Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing strength in Gujarat. When combined with the enhanced capacity at Hansalpur, the company's total annual output in the state is set to double.

Overall, Maruti Suzuki's production capacity in Gujarat will rise to an impressive 20 lakh units per year. This strategic investment underscores the automaker's commitment to scaling up its operations and meeting growing market demand.

The decision to invest heavily in Gujarat highlights the state's importance as a key manufacturing hub for Maruti Suzuki. The expansion is likely to have positive implications for the local economy and employment in the region.
