A significant fire erupted in the early hours of Tuesday at two timber establishments located in the Kalamna area of Nagpur, resulting in the destruction of substantial quantities of wood and machinery. Officials estimate the total loss at Rs1.25 crore.

Fire Reported at Two Timber Traders

The blaze was first reported at 1:20 am at Rajeshwar Timber Traders and Kamla Timber Traders situated in Chikhli Layout. Fire tenders from multiple stations were dispatched to the scene within minutes and commenced firefighting operations promptly.

Extent of Damage

According to the fire department, the fire consumed teakwood, two wood-cutting machines, the entire tin shed structure, electrical wiring, and an air-conditioning unit. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Firefighting Efforts

Fire personnel, led by Station Officer A. K. Sheikh along with a team of officers and firemen, worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control. The coordinated efforts involved units from Kalamna, Civil Lines, Sugat Nagar, Sakkardara, Wathoda, Lakadganj, and Cotton Market.

Cooling operations were still underway at the site at the time of filing this report. The Kalamna police have been informed, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress to determine the cause of the fire.
