A continuous power failure at the AIESL MRO facility at Mihan in Nagpur, which began around 3:30 am on June 3, has severely disrupted operations. The company has declared June 5 as an off day for its staff due to the ongoing electricity crisis.
Power Outage Details
According to an official office order, electricity supply has not been restored despite persistent follow-ups with MADC officials. The facility has now entered its second day without power supply. The company stated that operations have been sustained using diesel generator (DG) power for the past two days. However, the backup arrangement is no longer adequate to continue operations into the third day.
Company Statement
AIESL has expressed hope that power supply will resume by the end of the day on June 5. In light of the situation, all Nagpur MRO staff have been informed that Friday, June 5, will be treated as an off day. To compensate for the lost working day, Saturday, June 6, will be a normal working day. Additionally, maintenance staff (BMD) will be required to work on both Saturday and Sunday.
Official Communication
The order was issued by Manish Sharma, General Manager (E), MRO Nagpur. The company continues to coordinate with MADC officials to restore electricity at the earliest.
This disruption highlights the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to power outages and the importance of robust backup systems. The AIESL MRO facility plays a key role in aircraft maintenance, and any prolonged shutdown could impact operations. Staff have been advised to plan accordingly, with the adjusted schedule aiming to minimize operational delays.
