Rajasthan to Present Major Battery Storage Project at National Expo
Jaipur is buzzing with activity. The state government is getting ready to showcase a groundbreaking large-scale battery storage project. This presentation will happen at the upcoming Bharat Renewable Expo. Senior officials will meet with fifty CEOs from leading solar companies. The expo starts this Friday.
Pugal Solar Park: A Prime Investment Destination
State officials plan to position the Pugal Solar Park as a critical hub for investments. The park boasts an impressive 2,450 MW of solar generation capacity. More importantly, it features a massive 6,400 MWh battery energy storage system. This combination aims to attract significant capital from industry leaders.
Industry experts are enthusiastic about this development. Sanjeev Aggarwal, founder and chairman of Hexa Climate, shared his perspective. His company is developing over 1,000 MW of solar projects in Rajasthan. He called the state's push for storage transformative.
"Battery storage mitigates curtailment risks," Aggarwal explained. "It allows supply during peak evening hours. This ensures the state's massive renewable capacity is efficiently utilised. The energy is not wasted."
The Critical Need for Storage Solutions
Rajasthan's renewable energy share in its generation mix continues to rise. This growth makes storage solutions vital. They ensure grid reliability and stability. The state is taking a proactive step to address this need.
Rupal Gupta, founder and CEO of TrueRE Oriana Power Ltd, praised Rajasthan's leadership. "The state has consistently demonstrated leadership in renewable energy," Gupta said. "This happened through timely policy decisions. Its focused push towards Battery Energy Storage Systems marks the next critical step."
Bharat Renewable Expo: A Platform for Innovation
The Bharat Renewable Expo receives support from key entities. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the state's Energy Department are involved. The Rajasthan Solar Association is organising the event.
The expo will showcase a wide array of offerings. Visitors will see innovations, products, and technologies. These come from both domestic and international renewable energy companies. Government schemes will also be highlighted.

Focus on Talent and Public Engagement
RSA President Sunil Bansal revealed exciting plans for the expo. It will host a renewable Olympiad and a talent fest. "More than 1,000 students from 35 technical institutions are expected to attend," Bansal said. "They will get job placements with over 50 leading companies." This initiative bridges the gap between education and industry.
A special highlight will be the Surya Ghar Pavilion. Entrepreneurs linked to the PM Surya Ghar Yojana will set up booths. Their goal is to inform consumers directly. They will provide details on solar panels, available subsidies, and financing options. This makes renewable technology more accessible to the public.
Rajasthan's strategy is clear. After adding the country's largest solar capacity, the focus now shifts to storage. This move aims to maximize the utility of its renewable investments and secure a stable energy future.
