Solarium Commissions Major 1 GW Solar Module Manufacturing Facility in Ahmedabad

Solarium Green Energy Limited, a prominent rooftop solar EPC company in India, has officially commissioned its new solar module manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This state-of-the-art plant boasts an installed capacity of 1 GW (1000 MW), marking a significant milestone in the company's strategic growth and backward integration efforts, which were initially announced in June 2025.

Advanced Technology and Investment Details

The facility is equipped with fully automated, latest-generation manufacturing machinery, established at an estimated capital expenditure of approximately ₹90 crore, excluding working capital requirements. It is designed to produce large-format G12 solar modules with capacities of up to 725 Wp, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as TOPCon cells, half-cut cells, and bifacial modules. High-precision imported equipment, including tabber-stringers, laminators, and sun simulators, supports the production of high-efficiency Crystalline Silicon Solar PV modules.

Strategic Benefits and Market Impact

Solar modules typically account for 50–60% of total EPC project costs. The commissioning of this facility is expected to strengthen Solarium's supply chain by reducing dependence on third-party suppliers, accelerating execution timelines, and improving margins through captive consumption. This move positions Solarium as an integrated solar solutions provider, capable of serving both internal requirements and external customers, including other EPC players and the broader B2B market.

At approximately 85% plant utilization, the facility has the potential to generate annual revenues exceeding ₹1,000 crore, subject to prevailing market conditions and module pricing, if the modules are sold externally. This development underscores Solarium's commitment to enhancing its operational efficiency and market competitiveness in the renewable energy sector.

Leadership Perspective

Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Ankit Garg, Chairman & Managing Director of Solarium Green Energy Limited, stated, "The commissioning of this facility marks a significant milestone in our growth journey. Delivered in under nine months, the plant reflects our strong execution capabilities. With a fully automated line capable of producing high-efficiency G12 modules of up to 725 Wp, this facility strengthens our supply chain, enhances execution capabilities, and supports margin improvement across our EPC business."

This initiative aligns with India's broader push towards renewable energy and self-reliance in solar technology, contributing to the nation's green energy goals and economic development.
