TNSTC Launches Extensive Special Bus Services for Pongal Festival

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) is rolling out a massive fleet of special buses to accommodate passengers during the Pongal festival. From Trichy, the corporation is operating 1,327 special buses to ensure smooth travel for celebrants.

Key Destinations and Schedule Details

These special buses are departing from the Kalaignar Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminus in Trichy. They are heading to major cities across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, and Tirupur. Other important destinations include Madurai, Dindigul, Palani, Thanjavur, and Velankanni.

D Sathish Kumar, the general manager of the Trichy zone in the TNSTC Kumbakonam division, confirmed the schedule. The buses will run from January 12 until the morning of January 15. Most of these services are focusing on long-distance routes to help people reach their hometowns for the festival.

Enhanced Local and Suburban Services

In addition to the long-distance buses, TNSTC has made special arrangements for city and suburban routes. During peak hours, extra buses will operate from the Kalaignar bus terminus. This move aims to reduce congestion and provide convenient travel options within the region.

Within the Kumbakonam division alone, 405 special buses are being deployed. These buses will serve routes to Karaikudi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, and Jayankondam. The corporation is ensuring comprehensive coverage to meet the increased demand.

Push for Digital Payments and Online Booking

D Sathish Kumar highlighted a growing trend among passengers. More than 10% of travellers are already using digital payment methods. He appealed to all passengers to choose cashless options for a smoother transaction process.

The official strongly recommended booking tickets online through the official website tnstc.in. This step can help avoid last-minute hassles and secure seats on preferred buses.

Safety Advisory for Passengers

TNSTC has issued a safety reminder to all travellers. The corporation urged passengers to carefully look after their children and personal belongings throughout the journey. This precaution is essential to ensure a safe and pleasant travel experience during the festive rush.

With these measures, TNSTC aims to facilitate comfortable and secure travel for everyone celebrating Pongal across Tamil Nadu.
