VinFast's V-GREEN & HPCL Partner to Deploy EV Chargers at 24,400 Fuel Stations
V-GREEN, HPCL Partner for EV Charging Network Across India

In a major push for electric mobility, V-GREEN, the charging infrastructure arm backed by Vietnamese electric vehicle giant VinFast, has announced a strategic partnership with state-run oil marketing company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL). The collaboration aims to establish electric vehicle charging facilities across HPCL's vast network of fuel stations throughout India.

A Strategic Alliance for Green Mobility

The agreement, announced on Tuesday, is strategically timed as India intensifies its shift towards sustainable transportation. V-GREEN stated that the partnership will leverage HPCL's formidable existing network, which includes 24,400 retail outlets and an existing base of 5,300 EV charging stations operating under the HP e-Charge brand. This extensive platform is expected to enable rapid deployment and a seamless nationwide expansion of charging infrastructure.

V-GREEN Global Charging Station Development Company was established by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong with the core mission of investing in and developing charging systems to support VinFast's global ambitions. India is identified as one of its key markets. The company brings significant experience from its home market, operating over 150,000 charging ports across Vietnam and actively expanding through partnerships.

Building a Comprehensive EV Ecosystem

The core objective of this tie-up is to develop a robust Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure that enhances the experience for EV users and accelerates the electrification of transport in the country. By utilizing HPCL's widespread fuel station network, the partners aim to address range anxiety and provide convenient charging solutions.

This cooperation is more than just installing chargers; it represents a critical step in building a holistic EV ecosystem in India. The move is part of the collective strategy of V-GREEN, VinFast, and their local partners to create an integrated framework that encompasses:

  • Manufacturing of electric vehicles
  • Widespread charging infrastructure
  • Reliable after-sales services
  • Efficient battery recycling processes

Implications for India's EV Landscape

The partnership between a dynamic new EV player and an established public sector energy giant signals a powerful convergence in the market. It provides VinFast with an immediate and extensive physical footprint for its brand and future customers in India. For HPCL, it aligns with the national energy transition goals, allowing it to diversify its energy offerings and remain relevant in an evolving market.

This alliance is poised to significantly bolster the public charging infrastructure, which is a crucial enabler for mass EV adoption. By placing chargers at familiar and accessible fuel stations, the initiative could make EV ownership a more practical and appealing choice for millions of Indian consumers, thereby solidifying the foundation for long-term growth for both the VinFast and HP e-Charge brands in this promising market.
