VinFast MPV 7 Electric MPV Bookings Open in India Ahead of April Launch
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has officially commenced bookings for its upcoming electric MPV, the MPV 7, in the Indian market. The company announced that reservations for the new model can be made starting today by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000. The official launch event is scheduled to take place on April 15 in Delhi, marking a significant step in VinFast's expansion into India's competitive automotive sector.
Entry into Family Car Segment with MPV 7 and Limo Green
The MPV 7 represents VinFast's strategic entry into India's highly competitive family car space, targeting primarily private buyers. This seven-seater electric model has already been spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads, generating anticipation among consumers. Alongside the MPV 7, VinFast will introduce the Limo Green, a variant built on the same platform but designed specifically for fleet and commercial applications. This dual approach allows the company to cater to both individual and business customers, broadening its market reach.
Powertrain Specifications and Expected Performance
While official powertrain details for the MPV 7 have not been fully disclosed, industry expectations point to a front-mounted electric motor capable of producing 201 horsepower and 280 Newton-meters of torque. The vehicle is likely to be equipped with a 60.13 kWh battery pack, which is claimed to deliver an impressive driving range of approximately 450 kilometers on the NEDC cycle. This positions the MPV 7 to compete directly with rivals such as the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV in the electric MPV segment.
Broader Expansion Plans: GSM Cab Service and Electric Scooters
Beyond passenger vehicles, VinFast is preparing to launch its own electric cab service, GSM, in India over the coming months. This initiative aims to leverage the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in urban areas. Additionally, the company has announced plans to enter the two-wheeler market with electric scooters expected to arrive later this year. Interestingly, these scooters will be sold through a separate retail network, indicating a distinct and targeted strategy for the high-volume two-wheeler segment, which is crucial for success in the Indian market.
VinFast's comprehensive strategy encompasses multiple facets of the electric mobility ecosystem, from family cars and commercial vehicles to ride-hailing services and personal transport options. This multi-pronged approach underscores the company's commitment to establishing a strong presence in India's rapidly evolving EV landscape. The upcoming launch of the MPV 7 on April 15 will serve as a key milestone, setting the stage for further innovations and market penetration in the months ahead.
