AMC Demolishes Illegal Bungalow in Paldi After MLA Complaint

The Estate TDO department of the West Zone of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation took decisive action on Friday. They began demolishing an illegal section of a bungalow located in the Paldi area. This move came after receiving multiple complaints about the property.

Complaints Trigger Action

Residents and authorities raised concerns that the bungalow was constructed without proper legal permissions. Specifically, they alleged violations under the Disturbed Areas Act. This act regulates property transfers in sensitive areas to maintain communal harmony.

BJP MLA's Letter to Chief Minister

BJP MLA Amit Shah played a key role in highlighting the issue. He wrote a formal letter to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. In his letter, Shah detailed how the bungalow in Paldi violated the provisions of the Disturbed Areas Act. This prompted further investigation by local authorities.

Investigation and Ruling

The Mamlatdar conducted a thorough investigation into the complaint. Based on this report and a hearing, the West Deputy Collector of Ahmedabad city made a significant ruling on November 12, 2025. The official declared the transfer of Bungalow No. 9 in Nutan Sarvodaya Society as illegal.

Collector's Order for Possession Return

The collector issued clear instructions following the ruling. The current occupant must refund the compensation amount within six months. After this refund, possession of the property must be handed back to the original owner. This order aims to rectify the illegal transfer and restore rightful ownership.

Demolition Proceeds

With the legal backing from the collector's order, the AMC's estate department moved forward with the demolition. Workers and officials were present at the Paldi site to oversee the removal of the illegal construction. The operation underscores the corporation's commitment to enforcing building regulations and addressing unlawful activities.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to curb illegal constructions in Ahmedabad. It also shows how complaints from public representatives can lead to concrete administrative actions. The use of the Disturbed Areas Act in this case emphasizes its importance in regulating property matters in designated areas.
