Bengaluru Mourns the Tragic Loss of Confident Group Chairman CJ Roy
A profound sense of sorrow enveloped Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru on Sunday as a large crowd of mourners assembled to bid farewell to the late CJ Roy, the chairman of the prominent Confident Group. The public viewing was held at Roy's own Nature's Luxuri resort, where the atmosphere was heavy with grief from the early morning hours when his family received his body.
Heart-Wrenching Scenes as Family Grieves
The emotional toll on Roy's family was palpable and deeply moving for all present. His mother was seen in a state of utter despair, repeatedly calling out his name, while his children and brothers stood nearby, visibly struggling with their pain. The funeral attracted an immense gathering of people, with lines of mourners extending well beyond the temporary hall set up for the viewing, reflecting the widespread impact of his passing.
Prominent Personalities Pay Their Respects
Among the notable attendees was Antony Perumbavoor, a well-known actor and producer closely associated with Mollywood star Mohanlal. Speaking to reporters, Antony shared heartfelt memories of his long-standing friendship with Roy. "I knew him for a long time. Mohanlal, him, and I travelled together extensively. It was at this very venue that we launched our movie ‘Casanovva'. I have countless memories with him, which are difficult to express fully. He was involved in numerous films and always kept me close. From our first meeting, he provided me with valuable insights and unforgettable experiences," he recounted emotionally.
State Minister Expresses Condolences and Concerns
State transport minister Ramalinga Reddy also paid his respects, describing Roy as a "brave man" and voicing concerns over the circumstances of his death. "I have known Roy and his family for two to three decades. He achieved remarkable success in the real estate sector, making it all the more tragic to learn that he died by suicide. May his soul find peace, and may his family gain strength during this difficult time. We must await the findings of the investigation report. I cannot comprehend why he chose to take such a step, as he possessed the capability to confront any challenge," the minister stated.
The event underscored the significant loss felt across Bengaluru's business and social circles, leaving many to reflect on Roy's contributions and the unanswered questions surrounding his untimely demise.
