Ajni Station Redevelopment Advances: New Building, Towers & Platforms Take Shape
Nagpur's Ajni Railway Station Modernisation Progresses Rapidly

The ambitious redevelopment project of Ajni Railway Station in Nagpur is making significant headway, transforming it into a modern and commuter-centric hub under the Central Railway's Nagpur Division. The comprehensive upgrade aims to overhaul infrastructure and substantially elevate passenger comfort at this crucial suburban node.

Key Structures Nearing Completion

Officials report that a major portion of the work on the East Side station building has reached advanced stages, with both internal and external finishing touches nearly complete. This revamped building is set to offer a more spacious, organised, and comfortable environment, significantly upgrading the quality and range of amenities for travellers.

In a parallel development, two Type-IV residential towers, each built as stilt-plus-seven-floor structures, have been fully completed. These towers will bolster accommodation facilities for railway staff, supporting essential on-ground operations and contributing to the station's smoother functioning post-redevelopment.

Platform and Passenger Flow Enhancements

Platform infrastructure is also receiving a major boost. On Platforms 4 and 5, all COP (Cover Over Platform) columns on the Mumbai-end side have been erected. This work paves the way for improved shelter, safety, and convenience for passengers waiting to board trains.

Modernisation efforts to streamline passenger movement are progressing simultaneously. Central Railway confirmed that the encasing of columns on both the North and South Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) is now complete, enhancing structural stability and ensuring smoother transit across platforms.

Work in the concourse area is advancing steadily, with ongoing column encasing forming the foundation for a future, streamlined passenger circulation system. This focus on circulation is central to reducing congestion and improving the overall travel experience.

Future Vision and Passenger Cooperation

Once finished, the transformed Ajni Railway Station will boast improved accessibility, reorganised passenger zones, enhanced safety features, and a refreshed architectural identity. Central Railway has assured that the project is being executed with a focus on minimising inconvenience to daily commuters.

While expressing regret for any temporary disruptions, officials have appealed to passengers for their cooperation during this crucial redevelopment phase. The upgraded station is poised to significantly improve the commuter experience and strengthen Ajni's role as a key railway junction in Central India.
