Nashik District Administration Announces Compensation for Land Acquisition in Six Railway Overbridge Projects
Nashik Compensates Land Owners for Six Railway Overbridge Projects

The Nashik district administration has announced compensation in six land acquisition cases for the construction of road overbridges and road underbridges by the Central Railway’s Bhusawal division across Nashik district. This initiative is part of a broader plan encompassing 14 proposals aimed at improving infrastructure and gradually eliminating railway level crossings. Priority is being given to completing five key overbridges in and around Nashik.

Replacing Level Crossings with Overbridges and Underbridges

A senior district official explained that railway authorities are replacing level crossings with overbridges or underbridges based on the nature of the roads. Motorable roads are being upgraded with overbridges, while smaller roads are being provided with underpasses for light vehicle movement. Land acquisition is under way for these projects, and the process has been completed in six of the 14 cases.

Compensation Disbursed at Five Locations

Compensation has already been finalized and disbursed at five locations: Pimpri-Sayyad, Chitegaon, Pimpri, Shivadi, and Kundewadi. The official noted that land acquisition was completed on the same day compensation amounts were directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts, ensuring a smooth and transparent process.

Progress on Remaining Projects

For the remaining nine projects, acquisition is at advanced stages. In Vanjarwadi, a Section 19 notification was published in the government gazette on June 4, 2026. In Bhagur, the joint measurement report has been received, and the Section 19 notification is expected shortly. Other sites, including Manikkhamb, Belatgavhan, Vihitgaon, Gorewadi, Lasalgaon, Sansari, and Sukene, are currently in phases such as draft award hearings, joint measurements, and valuation assessments.

All procedures related to the 14 projects are likely to be completed within the next two months, ensuring timely handover of land to the Railways for construction work. This will significantly enhance road safety and reduce traffic congestion caused by railway crossings in the region.
