The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken a strict stance against delays in industrial development by cancelling the allotment of 130 industrial plots. This decisive action comes after the allottees failed to complete the mandatory registration process despite repeated warnings.
Final Notices Issued, Response Falls Short
In a move to clear long-pending cases, the Authority had issued formal notices a month ago to a total of 366 industrial plot allottees. These notices served as a final directive, instructing the recipients to complete their registration formalities within a stipulated deadline.
According to officials, the response was mixed. While 76 allottees complied and finished their registration, a significant number—130—did not respond to the notice at all. The remaining allottees are currently under review as they have responded but not yet completed the process.
Impact on Development and Authority's Revenue
The core issue prompting this crackdown is the prolonged inactivity on many plots that were allotted years ago. A senior YEIDA official highlighted the dual problem this inertia creates. "This is not only affecting industrial development but also impacting the Authority's plans and revenue," the official stated.
By holding onto plots without commencing any industrial activity or completing paperwork, the allottees were stalling broader economic growth in the region and depriving the Authority of crucial funds needed for further infrastructure and development work.
Official Stance and Next Steps
YEIDA Additional CEO, Nagendra Pratap Singh, confirmed the Authority's firm position. He stated that action will be taken against those allottees who have not yet responded. "A meeting will soon be held to review all pending cases, and cancellation will be processed," Singh said, leaving no room for ambiguity.
The cancellation process for the 130 non-responsive allottees has now been formally initiated. This step underscores YEIDA's commitment to ensuring that industrial land is utilized productively and according to the agreed-upon timelines, fostering actual ground-level development along the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
