Police Officer Helps Woman Reach Exam Centre on Time

A 38-year-old woman in Moradabad abandoned her car and began running towards her examination centre after getting stuck in heavy traffic caused by a Maharana Pratap Jayanti procession on Saturday. With nearly 2km still left to cover and reporting time fast approaching, Swati Gandhar struggled to make her way through the congestion in Lajpat Nagar when Moradabad SP (City) Kumar Ranvijay Singh noticed her distress.

Officer's Timely Intervention

Seeing her in tears and trying to navigate through the gridlock, the officer offered her a ride in his escort vehicle and helped her reach the examination centre on time. The incident was captured on video.

Candidate's Gratitude

Speaking to TOI, Gandhar, a sociology candidate appearing for the lecturer cadre recruitment examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), said, "I had to report before 1.40pm, but I got stuck in traffic around 1.20pm. I was travelling with my husband, but when it became clear that the vehicle could not move, I started running on foot."

"That is when the police officer noticed my distress and came forward to help. I am deeply grateful to him. Without his intervention, I would have missed this very important examination," she added.

Officer's Response

SP Singh said, "I could sense the urgency and distress on her face. I simply did my duty."
