"I was always inclined toward plants," Ojha explains to The Better India. "Growing up in a village, you witness firsthand how much care crops require. You learn that growth cannot be forced." This rural upbringing contrasted sharply with his environment when he moved to study agriculture at Amity University in Noida. Instead of expansive fields, he encountered towering apartment buildings with balconies largely devoid of greenery.

"When I shifted to Noida, I observed significant pollution and minimal greenery," Ojha recalls. "People wanted plants inside their homes but lacked the knowledge to maintain them properly. There was genuine interest but insufficient guidance." This observation became particularly relevant during his graduation in June and July 2018 when he needed to complete a mandatory entrepreneurship project requiring students to plan and execute a small business.

Drawing on his lifelong interest in plants, Ojha borrowed Rs 500 from his parents to purchase several saplings. This simple investment marked the official beginning of TheGreenWealth, though it started as what he describes as "a college sales project."

The Turning Point: From Sales to Sustainability

"I needed to demonstrate some sales," Ojha says with a smile. "But I also wanted to test whether this concept could work beyond the classroom." He initially approached his professors, who purchased plants for their offices but soon began asking crucial questions about plant care.

"They would contact me saying, 'Why are the leaves turning yellow?' or 'How much water should I provide?'" he remembers. "That's when I realized plant survival matters more than plant sales. Selling is straightforward, but sustaining plants represents the true challenge."

By the project's conclusion, Ojha had generated Rs 25,000 in revenue. While the financial success was encouraging, what truly resonated were the questions customers asked, revealing a deeper need for plant care education.

Building Trust Through Comprehensive Solutions

What distinguishes Ojha's approach is his focus on addressing root causes rather than superficial symptoms. Instead of treating plant care as merely about watering and sunlight, he investigated soil health, nutrition, and the fundamental reasons plants struggle in urban environments.

This comprehensive methodology helped establish trust with customers who had repeatedly failed to keep plants alive. Gradually, TheGreenWealth evolved from a student project into a practical gardening support service for city dwellers.

Post-Graduation Persistence on Two Wheels

After completing his studies, Ojha continued selling plants across Noida's residential societies using only his scooty for transportation. Without external funding, formal office space, or a team, he relied entirely on personal savings and determination.

"I utilized my own savings," he explains. "I transported plants on my scooty, sometimes balancing two or three simultaneously. I handled deliveries personally and provided detailed care instructions."

These early days presented numerous challenges, including confrontations with security guards and non-functional apartment building lifts. Despite these obstacles, Ojha remained committed to every plant delivered. He noticed that many plant failures resulted from nutritional deficiencies rather than inadequate watering, and customers increasingly sought chemical-free alternatives.

Addressing the Knowledge Deficit

Many homeowners attempt plant care but become discouraged when leaves yellow, growth stagnates, or plants perish. Ojha recognized that these failures often stemmed not from negligence but from insufficient guidance. By offering knowledge alongside products and services, he transformed this gap into a business opportunity.

"Most failures resulted from nutritional deficiencies rather than watering issues," he clarified to The Better India. "People believed more water would solve their problems."

In March 2024, after repeatedly observing nutrient imbalances in plants, Ojha launched TheGreenWealth's specialized plant nutrition range. Developed using agricultural research and balanced micronutrient formulations, these products address foundational plant health needs.
