Ultraviolette Battery Flex Cuts EV Price by 40%

Ultraviolette Unveils Battery Flex to Revolutionize EV Affordability in India

In a bold move to accelerate electric vehicle adoption, Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive has launched its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, dubbed Battery Flex. This initiative dramatically reduces the upfront purchase price of the new Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover, making it more accessible to a broader range of consumers.

How Battery Flex Transforms EV Ownership

With the Battery Flex programme, the X-47 Crossover can now be acquired starting at an attractive price of Rs 1.49 lakh, ex-showroom. In contrast, without this BaaS offering, the model carries a standard sticker price of Rs 2.49 lakh. This represents a substantial 40 percent reduction in the initial cost, a significant incentive for potential buyers.

The battery pack is offered separately through a flexible monthly subscription plan, which begins at Rs 2,499 per month and spans a period of five years. This model allows customers to pay for the motorcycle chassis upfront while financing the battery through the subscription. At the end of the five-year term, ownership of the battery is transferred to the customer at no additional charge, ensuring long-term value.

Partnership and Warranty Details

Ultraviolette has launched this programme in collaboration with Ecofy, a green-focused Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), underscoring their commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. To further bolster consumer confidence, the company has confirmed that the battery pack will come with a comprehensive five-year warranty, providing peace of mind regarding performance and durability.

Enrolments for the Battery Flex plan are now open, starting today, allowing early adopters to take advantage of this groundbreaking offer.

Technical Specifications of the X-47 Crossover

The Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover is available with two advanced battery pack options:

  • A 7.1 kWh unit that delivers a claimed IDC range of 211 km.
  • A larger 10.3 kWh battery with a claimed IDC range of 323 km.

The top variant of this electric motorcycle boasts impressive performance metrics, generating 40 hp of peak power and 100 Nm of torque. Ultraviolette claims that the X-47 can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 2.7 seconds, reach 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 145 kmph, positioning it as a competitive player in the high-performance EV segment.

Impact on the EV Market

This strategic launch by Ultraviolette is poised to disrupt the Indian electric vehicle landscape by addressing one of the key barriers to EV adoption: high upfront costs. By decoupling the battery from the vehicle purchase through the Battery Flex initiative, the company not only enhances affordability but also promotes a more sustainable and flexible ownership model. As the EV market continues to evolve, such innovations are crucial for driving widespread acceptance and supporting India's green mobility goals.
