Greater Noida Residents Issue Ultimatum Over Ageing Infrastructure
Residents of Greater Noida have taken a firm stand against persistent civic problems. They are demanding immediate replacement of ageing water and sewer pipelines that have been causing significant issues across multiple sectors. The residents have warned authorities that protests will follow if their concerns remain unaddressed.
Resident Welfare Associations Unite in Demand
Around forty resident welfare associations came together under the Federation of RWAs of Greater Noida banner. They held a crucial meeting late Sunday in Knowledge Park to discuss mounting civic challenges. RWA representatives highlighted several pressing issues affecting daily life in the residential sectors.
Contaminated water supply emerged as a primary concern. Residents reported sewer-mixed water flowing from taps in several sectors including Alpha, Beta and Delta. The pipelines in question have been serving the area for over three decades and require urgent replacement according to those affected.
Multiple Civic Issues Flagged
The meeting addressed several interconnected problems plaguing Greater Noida:
- Clogged sewer systems causing sanitation issues
- Poor water quality affecting health and safety
- Traffic congestion in key areas
- Inadequate road connectivity
Residents specifically proposed relocating the labour market from sectors Sigma and Delta. They suggested moving it to a site opposite the Greater Noida Authority office to reduce congestion in these busy areas.
Infrastructure Upgrades Demanded
Connectivity improvements formed another major discussion point. Residents reiterated the need for better road infrastructure, particularly emphasizing the construction of a flyover along Kasna Road near Pari Chowk. This development would provide smoother access to the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and ease daily commutes.
FORWA president Devendra Tiger stated clearly that these infrastructure gaps directly impact residents' quality of life. He emphasized that immediate intervention from authorities has become essential.
Transparency in Civic Works
FORWA general secretary Rishi Pal Bhati called for greater transparency in how civic projects are executed. He urged authorities to make tender bonds within sectors publicly accessible. Bhati also proposed a new system where contractors receive payment only after obtaining no-objection certificates from concerned RWAs once work completes satisfactorily.
Fifteen-Day Ultimatum Issued
The federation announced plans to send a delegation to meet the CEO of GNIDA after Republic Day. They intend to discuss water supply, sewer management and air quality issues comprehensively. Tiger issued a clear warning regarding water infrastructure. He stated that if authorities fail to show progress on replacing ageing water pipelines within fifteen days, residents will launch a public movement against the Authority.
This movement would involve support from RWAs across the entire city according to the federation's plans. The meeting also examined the deteriorating condition of sewer, water and power infrastructure across residential sectors. Members stressed that urgent upgrades remain necessary to prevent recurring health and safety risks for all residents.
