Kanpur DM Inspects Bithoor-Mandhana Road Project

District authorities in Kanpur conducted a crucial on-site inspection of the Bithoor-Mandhana road project on Saturday. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh personally led the inspection to assess progress and address challenges.

Project Details and Importance

District Magistrate Singh emphasized that this road connecting Mandhana to Bithoor represents a significant government infrastructure initiative. The total project cost stands at approximately Rs 137 crore. This substantial investment underscores the project's importance for regional connectivity.

Road Widening Specifications

The project involves widening approximately 8 kilometers of existing roadway. Officials have set August 2026 as the target completion date for all construction work. During the inspection, Singh directed Public Works Department officials to remove any obstacles hindering progress.

Compensation for Land Acquisition

A substantial compensation package of approximately Rs 70 crore has been allocated for affected farmers. This compensation covers both land and structures acquired for the project. The District Magistrate instructed concerned officials to distribute these funds promptly with proper farmer consent.

Infrastructure Adjustments Required

The project requires significant utility adjustments, particularly regarding electricity poles. Authorities estimate spending approximately Rs 7 crore on pole relocation. This includes shifting 237 poles belonging to KESCO and 253 poles from Dakshinanchal.

Inter-Departmental Coordination

Singh stressed the need for war-footing completion through enhanced inter-departmental coordination. He specifically directed officials from both electricity departments to expedite the pole relocation work. The District Magistrate confirmed that allocated funds for these departmental activities have already been released.

Administrative Directives

During the inspection, Singh issued several clear instructions to ensure project efficiency:

  • Complete all work through coordinated inter-departmental efforts
  • Implement clear marking of gate numbers along the roadway
  • Expedite compensation distribution to affected farmers
  • Accelerate electricity pole relocation work
  • Utilize released funds promptly for designated purposes

Project Timeline and Benefits

The District Magistrate clarified that the project must follow a strict time-bound schedule. This approach will accelerate regional development across the area. Singh emphasized that timely completion will ensure the general public benefits from improved infrastructure sooner rather than later.

The inspection concluded with renewed commitment from all departments involved. Officials pledged to work collectively toward the August 2026 deadline for this vital infrastructure project.
