Former Karnataka Minister Murugesh Nirani revealed on Tuesday that two significant investment proposals, worth a combined Rs 5,700 crore, were rejected by the state government. Speaking to reporters, he alleged that the rejection highlights a bias against domestic investors, while foreign and out-of-state investors receive preferential treatment at global investment summits.
Projects Worth Rs 5,700 Crore Denied
The rejected projects include an aviation fuel plant and a bio-plastic manufacturing unit. Nirani claimed that these projects would have generated substantial employment and economic benefits for the region, particularly in Bagalkot. He criticized the government's approach, stating that local entrepreneurs are often sidelined in favor of external investors.
Allegations of Favoritism
Nirani emphasized that at global investment summits, investors from other countries and states are welcomed with red-carpet treatment, whereas local investors face bureaucratic hurdles. He urged the government to reconsider its policies and ensure a level playing field for all investors.
The former minister's comments come amid ongoing debates about investment policies in Karnataka, with opposition parties accusing the government of neglecting local industrialists.
