Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will participate, along with Union ministers, in a two-day national workshop on seafood exports in the port city on Friday. The workshop will feature interactive sessions with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMKSSY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) schemes, as well as stakeholders and start-ups from the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Technical Sessions on Day Two
Technical sessions on the second day will address issues such as value addition in seafood exports, sustainable labelling and certification, traceability systems, promotion of MSMEs, utilisation of inshore marine resources, cultivation of marine algae, ornamental fisheries, and pearl farming. These sessions aim to provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights to participants, helping them adopt best practices and innovative techniques in the seafood industry.
Objectives of the Workshop
The workshop aims to boost domestic seafood exports, enhance the global competitiveness of Indian products, and create new opportunities for fishers, farmers, exporters, and industry stakeholders. By bringing together key players from the government and private sectors, the event seeks to foster collaboration and drive growth in the fisheries sector. The involvement of Union ministers underscores the central government's commitment to supporting the seafood export industry and improving the livelihoods of those dependent on it.
Interactive sessions will allow beneficiaries of PMKSSY and KCC schemes to share their experiences and challenges, enabling policymakers to refine these initiatives for greater impact. Start-ups in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors will also have a platform to showcase their innovations and network with potential investors and partners.
The workshop is expected to attract a large number of participants from across the country, including representatives from state fisheries departments, export promotion councils, and research institutions. With a focus on sustainability and value addition, the event is poised to make a significant contribution to India's seafood export landscape.
