The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI), in partnership with the Himachal Pradesh government, will host a BRICS business conclave in Dharamshala this March. This initiative aligns with the presidency theme of Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability, aiming to strengthen economic ties among member nations.

Key sectors that will be in focus during the summit include:

Leadership Perspectives on the Initiative
BRICS CCI chairperson Harvansh Chawla emphasized the uniqueness of this partnership, stating: This is our first collaboration with a hill state. Himachal Pradesh offers a compelling blend of competitiveness and sustainability, which is highly attractive to global investors. The Dharamshala summit is expected to act as a catalyst, transforming business opportunities into concrete investments.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed strong enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting: This partnership opens new pathways for accessing global capital, advanced technology, and international markets. The event in Dharamshala will highlight the state's sectoral strengths and promote green, inclusive growth, particularly benefiting entrepreneurs and MSMEs.
Formalization and Early Outcomes
The partnership was formalized during the HIM MSME Fest 2026 in Shimla through a memorandum of commitment (MoC). This marks BRICS CCI's inaugural tie-up with a hill state, setting a precedent for future collaborations. Early results have already been promising, with the state industries department reporting a Russian investment exceeding Rs 500 crore in the pharmaceuticals sector in Himachal Pradesh, facilitated through this initiative.
This business conclave represents a strategic move to leverage India's BRICS presidency to boost economic development in Himachal Pradesh, fostering innovation and sustainability on a global scale.
