In a significant move to bolster international economic partnerships, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a high-level meeting with a delegation from Japan's Mizuho Bank at the Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh on Thursday. The delegation was led by the bank's Managing Director and India Head, Ryo Murao.
Strengthening Ties and Key Investment Sectors
The discussions centered on strengthening economic cooperation and identifying new pathways for strategic investments within the state. The Japanese delegation showed a strong inclination to formalize this partnership by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Haryana's Department of Foreign Cooperation.
Several high-potential sectors were earmarked for collaboration during the talks. These include:
- Automobile manufacturing, a traditional strength of Haryana.
- Education and financial services.
- The critically important semiconductor sector, which is a major focus for both national and global economic strategies.
Haryana's Pro-Business Environment Attracts Global Player
The delegation revealed a concrete vote of confidence in Haryana's policies. Impressed by the state's progressive reforms and robust Ease of Doing Business ecosystem, Mizuho Bank has already relocated its India office from Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana. They sought the state government's continued support to further expand their operational and investment footprint.
In response, Chief Minister Saini assured the bank of his government's full backing. He emphasized that Haryana is committed to providing a stable and investor-friendly environment, underpinned by transparent governance, modern infrastructure, and a skilled workforce. He highlighted the state's strategic location, continuous policy reforms, and proactive administration as key factors making it a preferred destination for global investors, particularly in high-technology and knowledge-driven industries.
A Cultural Exchange and Vision for Global Outreach
The meeting concluded on a note of cultural diplomacy. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to Ryo Murao. They discussed the ancient text's timeless philosophy and its universal messages on duty, ethics, and balanced decision-making—values pertinent to governance and business alike.
This engagement was facilitated by the Department of Foreign Cooperation, a dedicated state government body responsible for Haryana's international diplomacy, bilateral and multilateral relations, and assistance to the global Haryanvi diaspora. The department actively promotes the state's vision of transformation through a 'Go Global Approach'.
