Mahindra Secures Landmark Export Order for 35,000 Scorpio Pik Up Vehicles to Indonesia
In a significant boost to India's automotive export sector, Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a major international partnership. The company will supply 35,000 units of its Scorpio Pik Up vehicles in 2026 to Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, a prominent Indonesian state-owned enterprise. This substantial order is designated for the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening cooperative networks across Indonesia.
Historic Export Volume Surpasses Previous Records
Notably, this single export contract is larger than Mahindra's total vehicle exports recorded in the entire fiscal year 2025. The sheer scale of this deal underscores a pivotal moment for Mahindra's international operations, marking one of the largest single orders in the company's recent history. These made-in-India vehicles, manufactured at Mahindra's Nashik plant, are poised to play a transformative role in enhancing rural logistics infrastructure within Indonesia.
Strategic Partnership to Empower Indonesian Cooperatives
Under this strategic collaboration, Mahindra and Agrinas Pangan Nusantara share a unified vision: to equip local Koperasi (Cooperatives) with robust and reliable transportation solutions. The primary objective is to ensure the effective and seamless flow of fresh agricultural supplies directly from farmers to marketplaces. By doing so, this initiative aims to bridge the critical gap between rural producers and urban consumers, fostering a more efficient and equitable supply chain.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra's Automotive Division, emphasized the partnership's significance. "We are looking forward to this association and to supporting Indonesia's Koperasi through our partnership with Agrinas Pangan Nusantara," he stated. "By deploying the Scorpio Pik Ups as part of the Koperasi, we are strengthening a reliable logistics backbone that connects farmers to markets more efficiently. Our Pik Ups are engineered to perform in tough conditions while keeping operating costs to a minimum."
Vehicle Customization for Demanding Rural Terrain
The Scorpio Pik Up vehicles selected for this project are renowned globally for their:
- Rugged build quality and durability
- Strong payload capacity for transporting goods
- Low running costs, ensuring economic viability for cooperatives
These vehicles have been specifically customized to suit the unique operating needs of Indonesian Koperasi, whether navigating rough rural roads, unpaved farm tracks, or challenging terrain. Once deployed, the Scorpio Pik Up fleet will perform crucial functions within the cooperative ecosystem:
- Supporting first-mile aggregation by moving produce from individual farms to cooperative collection points
- Handling intra-village logistics to ensure smoother movement of goods within the cooperative network
- Enabling villages to become independent centres of economic growth by improving local supply chains
Technical Specifications of the Scorpio Pik Up
The Scorpio Pik Up model designated for this export order is powered by a 2.2-litre MHawk turbo diesel engine, delivering 138 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and offers both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain options to handle diverse road conditions. Key features enhancing its utility and safety include:
- Projector headlamps with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)
- Fog lamps for improved visibility

Aligning with Mahindra's Broader Vision
This landmark export deal is more than just a commercial transaction; it reflects Mahindra's commitment to its "Rise" philosophy. As Gollagunta further explained, "The volume committed for this partnership will significantly boost our International Operations, adding as much as our total export volumes achieved in FY25. In line with Mahindra's Rise philosophy, this collaboration reflects our commitment to enabling prosperity and supporting national priorities."
By facilitating improved rural logistics and empowering local cooperatives, this partnership between Mahindra and Agrinas Pangan Nusantara is set to create a lasting positive impact on Indonesia's agricultural economy and rural development initiatives.
