In a significant move to accommodate the surge in passenger demand, the South Western Railway (SWR) zone has announced the extension of operations for multiple special train services. The decision aims to clear the extra rush and provide seamless connectivity across key routes connecting South and East India.
Weekly Express Specials Get Extended Run
The railway authorities have prolonged the service of several weekly express special trains. Train No. 02811 Bhubaneswar – Yeshvantpur Weekly Express Special, which operates every Saturday, will now run until February 21. Its counterpart, Train No. 02812 Yeshvantpur – Bhubaneswar Weekly Express Special running on Mondays, has been extended till February 23.
Similarly, the service of Train No. 08581 Visakhapatnam – SMVT Bengaluru Weekly Express Special (Sundays) is now valid until January 25. The return Train No. 08582 SMVT Bengaluru – Visakhapatnam (Mondays) will operate till January 26.
Extensions for Santragachi, Narasapur, and Hyderabad Routes
Other important routes have also received extensions. The Train No. 02863 Santragachi – Yelahanka Weekly Express Special (Thursdays) will operate till January 15. Its corresponding service, Train No. 02864 Yelahanka – Santragachi (Saturdays), will run from January 3 to 17.
For passengers traveling from Andhra Pradesh, the Train No. 07153 Narasapur – Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru Weekly Express Special (Fridays) is extended till January 30. The return Train No. 07154 from Bengaluru to Narasapur (Saturdays) has been extended from January 17 to 31.
Furthermore, the Train No. 07043 Hyderabad – Belagavi Weekly Special (Thursdays) will run till January 29, while the Train No. 07044 Belagavi – Hyderabad (Fridays) is extended till January 30.
Bi-Weekly Mysuru-Kakinada Service Extended
Addressing demand on a popular bi-weekly route, SWR has also extended two services. The Train No. 07033 Kakinada Town – Mysuru Bi-weekly Express Special, which runs on Mondays and Fridays, will operate till January 30. The return Train No. 07034 Mysuru – Kakinada Town Bi-weekly Express Special, operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is extended till January 31.
This coordinated extension of ten special trains underscores the railway's proactive steps to manage the seasonal passenger rush effectively. Travelers are advised to check the latest schedules while planning their journeys on these routes.
