Assam HS Result 2026 Declared on April 28, CM Confirms

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially announced that the Assam Higher Secondary (HS) or Class 12 results will be declared on April 28, 2026. This announcement puts an end to days of speculation and confusion among students and parents.

Official Confirmation After Fake Notice

Earlier, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) had dismissed a viral notice claiming that the results would be released on April 24, calling it fabricated. In a social media post, the Chief Minister stated, "Higher Secondary results will be declared on 28th April. My best wishes to all students appearing for the exam." The confirmation has brought relief to over three lakh students who were awaiting clarity amid conflicting reports.

Fake Notice Dismissed

Just days before the official announcement, a notice circulating online falsely claimed that the HS results would be released on April 24. However, an ASSEB official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told TOI Education that the notice was fake and no final decision had been made at that time. The board's clarification came amid heightened anxiety among students and parents, especially with undergraduate admission schedules approaching.

Over 3.3 Lakh Students Await Results

The Assam HS examinations 2026 were conducted from February 13 to March 17 across the state, with practical examinations held in late January and early February. This year, approximately 3.3 lakh candidates appeared for the exams across Arts, Science, Commerce, and Vocational streams. Arts stream had the highest number of candidates at around 2.4 lakh, followed by Science with over 55,000 and Commerce with around 17,000. The results will be released simultaneously for all streams.

Previous Result Trends

The April 28 declaration aligns with Assam's recent result pattern. In 2025, the HS results were announced on April 30, while in 2024 they were declared in early May. The board has been moving toward earlier result publication to align with national higher education admission timelines. Last year, the overall pass percentage stood above 88%, with Science recording the highest success rate among major streams. Similar performance trends will be closely watched this year as students compete for admissions to universities and professional courses.

Students Advised to Use Official Portals

Students will be able to check their scores through official result portals once activated by ASSEB on April 28. The board has advised candidates to avoid relying on unofficial websites or social media rumors and instead track only verified updates. With the result date now officially confirmed, attention shifts from speculation to performance, as lakhs of students across Assam prepare for one of the most anticipated academic announcements of the year.
